Scholarships Opportunities: Master od Science in Plant Breeding and seed Systems (COHORT IV)
Introduction: 
The Department of Agricultural Production 
received a sub-grant from the Next Generation Cassava Breeding Project 
(NextGen Cassava) to support a limitednumber of studentsonMaster’s 
Degree training in Plant Breeding and Seed Systemstenable at Makerere 
University for academic year 2014/15.Applications are now invited for 
these scholarships. 
Eligibility 
	1. The applicants for the limited NextGen Cassava scholarship 
awards shall be nationals from Kenya (2), Rwanda (1), South Sudan (2) 
andTanzania (2). 
	2. Applicants should have obtained at least a first degree or its 
equivalent in Agriculture or a Bachelor of Science or Forestry or the 
equivalent from a recognized and chartered university/institutionas a 
minimum requirement for admission to M.Sc. (Plant Breeding and Seed 
System) program of Makerere University. 
	3. Potential candidates already working with the National 
Agriculture Research Institutions, Universities, Ministry of Agriculture and/or Agriculture sector related Ministries will have added advantage. 
	4. Candidates withproof of job placement upon successful completion and return in any of above institutions/ programme will have added 
advantage. 
	5. The age limit is 35years and below.  Scholarships: The 
scholarship will cover travel, tuition, stipend, medical insurance, and a modest cost of field research

Mode of application
Individuals interested in these scholarships should submit an 
application letter, a brief Curriculum Vitae of NOT more than 2 pages 
and the names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers of 3 references, 
and a copy of your academic Bachelors transcript(translated in English 
if required). Abrief letter of why you should be considered for this 
fellowship and research area of interest for your M.Sc. thesis should be included (maximum 500 words) to the address below. Female candidates 
are highly encouraged to apply. 
Closing date for applications is June30th, 2013. 
Successful candidates shall be notified by October 30th, 2013 and will 
thereafter be required to undertake a 6months internship with the 
National Cassava Research Programme at Namulonge in Uganda starting from 1st February 2014.
