Dear All,

The date and the venue will be fine if done at the same place as you suggest,

Great to see a spirited discussion on this. As a whole the area of networking can offer a lot of interesting topics that would be of value to all of us. I like that together with a potential topic we are also looking at what "value" a topic offers. I think this is important as we move forward; when we get together we want to impart value on each other.

While some in the group are networking novices I do not think it is necessary to start the discussion from the very basics since any technical knowledge, say programming, will bequeath the owner with some general notions of networking. As such I think we should focus more on particular "value" topics of networking, say setting up a DNS server. Now anyone can pick up a book or good online resource and learn how to setup a DNS server however we can make this more valuable in our setting by covering important tips or tricks the presenter may have learned or baffling DNS problem that they once solved. In essence, as a presenter, you are sharing your knowledge and experience which can be very valuable to someone with less knowledge and limited experience. For the networking experts among us I'm sure we can find numerous value topics like that which would benefit the rest.

With that in mind, and considering we are already in December, I suggest we move the networking presentation to January to allow for more thought and ideas to come up. Since our last presentation, "Introduction to Ruby & Ruby on Rails", needs a rerun, I suggest we do that instead. This will offer us a chance to nicely wrap up the topic after it was disrupted by wifi issues last time. This will also offer an opportunity for those who could not make it last time to get in on the action too.

Since we held it at KITEC the last time, I would like us to hold it there again to allow the couple of KITEC students who joined us the last time to consolidate their learning. And plus everyone loved the venue! Of course if this is OK with KITEC. Will that be possible Godlisten?

I had previously proposed December 12 but I had forgotten there is the Arusha Node Marie annual general meeting on the same date. I think the week after that might be a bit too close to the holidays so how about Tuesday December 10? It is only a week away but I trust Zachariah will be ready since this is a rerun. Would that be OK Zachariah?
