[TZGISUG] national land use land cover datasets?

Hello Andrew,

The Institute of Resources Assessment (IRA) of the University of Dar es Salaam has a Landcover for Tanzania based on the 1992 aerial photos. This is the latest I know for Tanzania.

Contact them at  ira at ira.udsm.ac.tz

Are there any national land use land cover data sets for Tanzania, Kenya or other East African countries? There are global data sets like Globcover, or the recently released 30m dataset from China. Also, there is at least 1 regional data set I've found via the FAO Africover program although its from 2000. But are there any national level data sets that I am overlooking? I found links to a 1980 land cover in Kenya and 2002 land cover in Tanzania from ILRI. Any others that people know of?
