[TZGISUG] New land surveying system underway in Tanzania

I hadn't realised that this was part of a larger effort. I had two polite
young men from the Municipal Council come by my house in Arusha a few weeks
ago with their 'satellite' system as part of the new surveying plan.

What I saw them carrying was a *printed map from Google Earth* with lines
and plot numbers drawn on with annotations, and they were developing a
plot-based database – including photos of the house and information on
bedrooms & fixtures. They said they are digitising various boundaries and
will eventually be back in the field with a GPS, but weren't carrying one
at the time.

Nice solution using free data ...
