GPS HEIGHTS WE ARE READING ON OUR DEVICES

There are nearly 3 basic heights we have in our common use:

1. Ellipsoid Heights(h) - Based on Datum (ie: WGS84, Arc1960, etc).
2. Orthomatic Heights(H) - Based on Mean Sea Level(Computed over period of 17-year cycle).
3. Geoid Heights(N) - Based on Geoid (surface of the oceans under the influence of Earth's gravity).

S0, H = h - N


Mts. Kilimanjaro Height:

Ellipsoid Height(WGS84) = 5875.43m
Orthomatic Height(WGS84) = 5889.51m.
Geoid Height (WGS84) = -14.48m

Orthomatic Height(Arc1960) = 5890.79m.
