I've pasted below some details on an IT support position a friend is
looking to fill - this list isn't really the place for it, I'm aware - so
would be keen to hear from others about where job searches and requests
*are* being made in Tanzania these days? Are there good fora?

Role Summary

Role Title: System Support Engineer

Department: ICT

Location: Alistair James Company Ltd, Kurasini Yard.

Reporting to (Position Title): IT Manager

Direct Reports: N/A

1. Overall Purpose

• Ensure that all ICT infrastructure is installed, configured and working
optimally.

• Ensure AJC employees are able to utilise the ICT infrastructure optimally.

2. Accountabilities & Responsibility Areas

• Assistance in technical design, planning, implementation,
performance-tuning and maintenance of critical

enterprise systems

• Assistance in procurement of and implementation of changes to network
infrastructure

• Maintenance of company e-mail system and accounts (Google-hosted)

• Maintenance of all ICT equipment used by employees in the course of their
duties

• Maintenance of ICT equipment inventory

• Diagnosis of problems affecting ICT systems and/or Internet connectivity

• Supervision of third-party service-providers when they are onsite

• Following up with third-party service-providers when they are working
offsite for AJC

• Provision of basic training to new employees on how to utilise any ICT
equipment required

• Identification of ways to improve the service provided by the ICT
department to the company


3. Formal Training/Education

• B.Sc. in Information Technology or similar

• At least two years in a recognised IT role

• Strong work-ethic
