Beside the Open-Stack-Summit at Atlanta the Ubuntu server team managed
to run 168000 Cloud-OS guests on 10 Seamicro SM15000 servers provided by
AMD and equipped with 64 quad core CPUs (2 threads per CPU = 8 logical
cores), 32GB RAM and 500G storage.
To get all 168000 instances running they had to fight with several bugs.
But after 11 hours they had 168k instances running. Sure with a total
memory of only 320GB for the administration nodes and the 168k nodes
this setup is useless. But it is a niche demonstration how Open-Stack
can scale out.
