Somehow. It is a more "pure" System. All the Linux distributions come
already with a lot of "luxury". And in several cases Linux is more
pragmatic: Ok, it is not the most elegant way and yes it breaks maybe
the an POSIX standard. But is is working.
The package management: apt is up to now the best (still as some
"§"§"§%"" incontinences e.g. orphaned packages leave sometimes in the
system)
When Suse changed with 5.0 from the Slackware packet management to rpm
was fine but then zypper: Pain in the ass. On the Pentium 1 I had it
took hours to update only the packet lists this was the reason why I
changed to Debian.
