If you own this Laptop you should upgrade the UEFI Firmware.
Lenovo released a update to fix a bug [1] [2] which can brick [3] the
laptop completely if you change the HDD or install Linux.

The X240, W540, T440/T440s laptops with a Haswell Core-I 4xxx CPU might
be also affected, the update is available [4], but not yet liked to the
support page.

If you don't know Theodore Ts'o who bricked his Thinkpad T540 three
times: He is the main developer for the Ext4 file system and since 2010
he is working for Google to change their servers from Ext2 to Ext4.
