I'm a little bit confused. The only plugin from the Squirrelmail project
page to change passwords http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=117
A precompiled binary is included in the tarball, but you have to compile
is youself. See the INSTALL file how to.

The other plugin requires poppassd and is using the PAM system to update
passwords. http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=21 If you are
using this you shold also update it.

Is poppassd correct installed? Can you access port 106 from localhost?
The pam rules for poppassd are configures?
