*Inaugural **TzNOG **event*

TzNOG is a multi-stakeholder project that aims to provide affordable
capacity building platform to IT Professionals in Tanzania for better
management of Internet Infrastructure and Resources. Its organizing
committee comprises of members from Tanzania Network Information Centre
(tzNIC), Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Tanzania
Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA) and TERNET (Tanzania
Educational and Research Network).

In collaboration with the Network Startup Resource Centre (NSRC) of USA,
the tzNOG organizing committee invites applications to the first tzNOG
event scheduled to take place in Arusha, Tanzania from *28**th **July to 2**nd
**August 2013 *at the *East African hotel*. The organizing committee plans
to have bi-annual events that will bring together network operators and
world class Instructors. This initiative is meant to localize the African
Network Operators Group (Afnog - www.afnog.org) trainings normally taking
place in one of the African countries once a year.

With this inaugural event, a one week training will be conducted by four
(4) Instructors from NSRC with assistance from three (3) Tanzanian
Instructors and will have 2 main tracks that will be preceded by a half day
bootcamp on UNIX administration.

The main tracks are:

a) Systems and Network Security (SNS)

b) Network management and monitoring (NMM).

Note that all the tracks will also cover the Ipv6 basics and configuration
concepts.* *

*Application requirements:*

The training session is open to all technical staff managing internet
resources/infrastructure within their Institutions such as mail servers,
web servers, etc.

The main requirements are:

· Some Linux/UNIX experience

· Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and layer 2 & 3 network basics.

*Training fee:*

Successful candidates will have to pay training fee of *TZS 300,000.00 *(TZS
Three Hundred Thousand only). This fee is meant to cover the conference
package (morning and afternoon tea/coffee and lunch), internet
connectivity, stationeries and administration costs.

*Note that accommodation is not included and therefore participants should
make their own accommodation*
