That good solution too bro, as long you don't have small kids around you can leave that way.
but some few electrical people can rebuild those transformer try that too.

Thanks for all the advice so far - have had no luck with any of the companies mentioned and am searching in Dar.

I have resorted to a jua kali job for now - with a full ATX power supply sitting OUTSIDE the Linux box to provide power. Ugly, but works.
