Now it is official:
https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/04/30/deprecating-non-secure-http/

Mozilla want's to get rid of http.
In the first step new features will only work if the connection is httpS.
In the next step even elder features will be step by step disabled on
not encrypted connnections.

But until this: Will take some time.
Google announced a while ago similar things for Chrome.
Since April https websites are higher ranked in the Google index.
And HTTP2 will also imply https.

The pressure on webmasters is getting higher to switch to https.
