Thanks much Richard, Erik and Kiwia for the options and ideas....

there is a little problem with this is that some of us understand
networking already like MR. Erik and some of us don't... so if i don't talk
a little bit of the basics then i will leave some out..

what i was thinking to do is build a working web and dns server and program
a simple sms gateway on it using php and python before the venue.

then when we come to the venue we would study networking by making sure
that the sms gateway is routed all the way to the internet. this way we can
see the devices in the middle and how they work. now our task would be to
make sure that the application is accessible from anywhere in the world as
long as you have internet connection.

and lastly discuss about expansion on the application, lets say more users
are using it so how to expand, do load balancing, traffic shaping ,
redundancy and management of that application...

if time allows then we can get in to routing and discuss some routing
protocols and wan technologies like PPP, frame relay and MPLS.

i think from here we will have a valid idea of what we are doing on both
sides, those who have networking experience and those who don't.

thank you so much for the ideas .

need your comments....
