Thank you Ismail, for sharing this info, I think it better to have different name for this group let the ALUG remain the same as the purpose of ALUG where more into sharing Linux Ideas than Network / Development as this new group target.

Yes,

Below are the minutes of the last meeting.

Arusha IT Enthusiasts Community Meeting
Discussion
a) How to establish this
·         It was suggested that first we should make strong
collaboration with other group and organs like tzNOG, TERNET and SEACOM who are
in IT industry as a means of building good network locally and at national level.
Taking an example of the tzNOG, as tzNOG is a tzNIC project with it focus/goal
in providing training and networking where people come together learn and share
ideas.
·         The proposed group should focus on empowering/supporting of
individual/groups with innovative idea to ensure that they achieve their
goals/objectives. For instance the guy who invent fritym.com
·         The proposed group should have permanent station/place
(resource center) which will be used for:-
o   Meeting and sharing idea
to improve our knowledge
o   Sharing idea, designing
and development of software and programming language.
o   Discussing and solving IT
problems occurs in our environment or community.
o   Self-directed learning.
o   Meeting point for sponsor
and IT people
o   Show case for projects
·         Members proposed that the resource center should contain the
following items/resources
o   Management team(volunteer)
o   Devices like desktops ,laptops,
printer, projector, router and cables
o   Testing server for
application developed
o   Internet connection
o   Refreshment ,tea/coffee
·       Members proposed that if our plan is to have resources center,
the people should be conscious with time in all projects and every one should
adhere resource center policy.

b) Committee
·         One of the member suggest to make team committee for management
and ask for anybody who has time and will to volunteer to join the team.
·         Member propose that there is no need to form another
committee while there is another management at ALUG .The existing management
can take the lead and post the agenda for the next  meeting.
·         What is important at the moment is to have more discussions
through our mailing list as to facilitate interaction among ourselves.
·       Members suggested changing the name of ALUG to another
generic name as to get more members in our group. Some propose that we can
create new mailing list and keep the other, post the same agenda to both
mailing list and measure the response.
·         Members propose to have meeting twice a month
·        Members suggest date for the next meeting to be on 17th August 2013, 1500hours at Community Resource Center (CRC) office, and opposite
to new NSSF building.
